A friend of mine told me about a party she went to recently, and I think it's a fantastic idea: A clothing exchange party. Each guest combs her closet for things that she (or he) doesn't like or that don't fit anymore and brings them to the party. The items are organized at the party (pants, sweaters, tops, purses, shoes, etc. -- perhaps in advance of the party if there are a lot of items), and attendees look through and try on anything that appeals to them, then take home what they like. Anything left over is donated to charity. Brilliant!
